Nestlé Waters North America has chosen APP Design’s partner RevCast and it’s Integrated Merchandising System (IMS) to manage it’s stock levels for more than 3,000 Wal-Mart locations across the US.
Wal-Mart has RetailLink to distribute POS data, but, even with this interface, the job of analyzing and managing stock throughout Wal-Mart’s US operations is a full-time job for two CPFR analysts. The problem, however, is not the analysis but the time it takes to retrieve the vast amounts of data and transform it into a format suitable for analysis.
IMS not only reduces the time it takes to retrieve data from RetailLink, but also provides analytical tools and historical data – which RetailLink lacks. IMS allows analysts to focus on analysis rather than repetitive data gathering and formatting chores. In addition, it should provides trending and analysis to pro-actively manage overstocks and out of stocks, leading to significant cost savings over time.
The primary reasons behind the decision to go with IMS was that the software was simple and intuitive, and provided ample data transport and analytical tools.
